Keshi Explains why he isn't head coach of Equitorial Guinea

Under fire and out of contract  super eagles coach Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has come out with revelations on why he didn't take the job as chief coach of Equatorial Guinea.

Keshi told Jeune Afrique  that he needed time to know the team and the time given him was too short.

Equatorial Guinea seemed to be Keshi's destination after talks with the NFF failed to yield to any meaningful result as weeks rolled into months.

Just like Keshi there was as expiration of the contract of Equatorial Guinea coach Andoni Goicoetxea but Equatorial Guinea didn't renew but rather sort after the services of Keshi, and when he turned them down they appointed Esteban Becker instead.

Keshi who we gather is still undergoing contract talks with the NFF said "I travelled to Malabo in December to discuss a contract of two years to take effect after the 2015 Afcon".

“Few days ago, the football federation contacted me to ask if I was still interested in the job.

But with about 10 days to the tournament, I felt time was too short to do any good work. I don’t know the team or the players,”.

“You need a minimum of one month to prepare for a tournament like the Africa Cup of Nations.”
