The Nigerian football family was thrown into shock when the general-secretary of the Nigerian Football Federation, Barr Musa Amadu threw in the towel yesterday. So many stories has emanated on what led to the premature exit of the Kaduna stae born administrator but reports suggests The FIFA World Cup fund tore the football body apart.

According to our source, Amadu’s exit had to do with issues bothering on the 8 million dollar World Cup largesse which world soccer governing body, FIFA paid to Nigeria and other countries that featured at the Brazil 2014 mundial. and the scribe was literally forced to resign as he was not on the same page with other NFF buffs on how the money should be spent.

In fact, the NFF had despite receiving the huge sum not paid back into government coffers the money the Federal Government “loaned” it to prosecute the competition. It would be noted that the Federal Government bankrolled Nigeria’s World Cup campaign with the understanding that the money would be refunded when the FIFA largesse comes.

According to our source, all the crisis rocking Nigeria football since after the money spinning mundial had to do with who controls the World Cup funds which FIFA had since paid to all the countries that were in Brazil.

“As we speak now nobody has told us what they have done with the World Cup money or what they intend to do with it. Rather than account for it, they are running to government for more funds in the 2015 budget,” our source lamented, even as he pointed out that Ghana FA had since declared what they got from FIFA and refunded to their government the money they got from it before the tournament.

The NFF website was however, silent on why Amadu resigned as it only stated that the executive committee had accepted his resignation.

According to the website, the NFF Executive Committee said it respected Barrister Amadu’s decision and wished him success in his future endeavors.

“We greatly appreciate his quality contributions to the development of football in Nigeria. His professionalism, hard  work and commitment to his duty helped in no little way in keeping the NFF administration stable and efficient,” it stated. The website further disclosed that Dr Mohammed Sanusi has taken over as the soccer federation’s scribe with immediate effect.
