Report: Enyimba sink Dolphins away from home

Enyimba International yesterday got the better of Dolphins FC 2-1 in one of the Week Nine matches of the Glo Nigeria Professional Football League at the Liberation Stadium, Port Harcourt.

An own goal from Festus Austin in the sixth minute and a goal from Markson Ojobo in the seventh minute before a consolatory goal from Ifeanyi Egwim in the 28th minute were all the People’s Elephants needed to claim one of the two away victories of the weekend.

Although all goals came in the first half, the match was far from being uneventful as both teams clung at each other in a bid to ensure they win the maximum points from the first blast of the whistle.

Dolphins sought to defeat Enyimba in Port Harcourt as they lost to them last season but with the Elephants chasing the top position of the league, the match lived up to expectation of being one of the week’s star matches.

In the other matches of the weekend, Sunshine Stars drew 1-1 at Nassarawa United, Shooting Stars played 1-1 at home with Rangers and Kano Pillars secured the second away win of the weekend by beating Abia Warriors 1-0 in Aba.

Heartland beat Akwa United 2-0, Wikki Tourists defeated Lobi Stars 1-0, El Kanemi Warriors beat Bayelsa United 1-0, Gabros beat Sharks 1-0 and FC Taraba played goalless with Giwa FC in Jos.
