Oshoala, Oparanozie headline Falcons squad for World cup


Super Falcons head coach, Edwin Okon, has named a his provisional squad for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.
The 36 invited players will also prepare for the 11th All-Africa Games qualifiers and the 2016 Olympic Games qualifiers.



The players, made up of 10 foreign-based and 26 home girls are to report at the Serob Legacy Hotel Abuja on Sunday 22nd February with their training kits, international passports and birth certificates.
The list consists of six goalkeepers, ten defenders, nine midfielders and eleven strikers.
Skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku, who plays for Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Premier League, leads the squad.

Reigning African Women's Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala, who recently signed for Liverpool Ladies is expected to lead the line alongside in-form En Avent De Guingamp forward Desire Oparanozie.
Others listed are Ibubeleye Whyte, Precious Dede, Onome Ebi, Faith Ikidi, Ngozi Ebere, Halimat Ayinde, Cecilia Nku, Osarenoma Igbinovia, Esther Sunday, Alaba Jonathan, Blessing Edoho and Uchechi Sunday.
The Falcons have an All Africa Games qualifier away to Mali on 22nd March, with the return leg in Nigeria three weeks later, before they clash with the same Malian side in May in a 2016 Olympic Games qualifying fixture.

Nigeria has been drawn in Group D of the FIFA World Cup alongside the United States, Sweden and Australia.
The 7th FIFA Women's World Cup finals will take place in Canada from 6th June to 5th July 2015.
