African-U17 championship: Eaglets hold Guinea



Nigerias Golden Eaglets forced Guinea to a 1-1 draw in their second group game at the on-going CAF U17 Championship in Niger Republic on Wednesday.

Nigeria still lead the group with four points from two games, same as Guinea but lead on superior goals difference.

The world champions thus maintain their unbeaten run against Guinea U17s.

Guinea took the lead in the 14th minute from a penalty kick which was converted after danger man Yamodou was brought down in the box by Zakari.


Golden Eaglets equalised through a penalty kick converted by captain Kelechi Nwakali in the 86th minute following Toure's high leg against substitute Okonkwo in the 85th minute.

The first 20 minute was for Guinea as they kept attacking Nigeria and won six free-kicks against Nigeria's one.

In the 50th minute, goalkeeper Udoh make a great save off Sam's header.

A minute later, Guinea defender headed out dangerous cross from the right side.

Kingsley Michael fired wide from 16 yards after he was nicely set up in the 53rd minute.

As the Eaglets pressed for an equaliser, Zakari failed to hit target with a header from seven yards.

A.Soumah cleared a dangerous ball from inside the six-yard box before Osimhen could connect in the 58th minute.

A minute later, Guinea went on counter attack and were denied a goal as Udoh parried an effort away for corner kick.

In the 67th minute, Guinea goalkeeper Moussa saved Chukweze's effort at goal.

Moussa once again denied Osimhen a goal as he dived full stretch to save his long-range effort in the 78th minute.
