Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bolster his strike force this summer having relied heavily on Harry Kane for goals last term.
The 21-year-old striker responded by scoring 32 goals in all competitions and will go into the next campaign as first choice. But should Kane suffer a drop of form or injury, Pochettino cannot rely on Roberto Soldado or Emmanuel Adebayor, meaning he needs to dip into the transfer market.
According to the aforementioned source, Spurs have already missed out on the likes of Jay Rodriguez and Carlos Bacca this summer, with the latter preferring a move to Liverpool.
Those disappointments mean Pochettino has turned his attention to Chelsea’s Moses who spent last season on loan at Stoke City.
Moses performed well at the Britannia last term and managed three goals in 19 league appearances, creating 32 chances for Mark Hughes’ side.
The Star reports that Stoke want the Nigerian on a permanent deal although Moses favours a switch to Spurs who can offer European football in the form the Europa League – a competition he won with Chelsea in 2013.
However, both Moses and Spurs may be left disappointed as there is a chance Moses could be included in any deal between Chelsea and Stoke for Asmir Begovic, with the Bosnian wanted as a replacement for Arsenal bound Petr Cech according to the source.
Moses is not an out and out striker although it will be hoped that he can provide some extra goals to ease the pressure on Kane should he sign.
