The tale of Nigerian born German U20 skipper, Kevin Akpoguma, a player who once pleaded to represent his fatherland, Nigeria, but was shunned.
The Hoffeinham defender led the German side to annihilate the country he begged to play for. He has now risen from an ordinary 'college boy' to captain the 'Mannschaft'.
Akpoguma, born in Germany to Nigerian father and German Mum, wrote a letter in 2010 to then U17 trainer, Monday Odigie, but was rebuffed.
The 20 year old whose first choice obviously is Germany, disclosed that he is still open to represent Nigeria.
His words " As long as I can play for Germany, I will leave this door open,” he said.
“If I see the level is too high, maybe, I will look for the other goal (with Nigeria).”
From his statement, apparently Nigeria is his second choice, that is, if he fails to make it with the senior Mannshaft, tragic.

One seem to wonder how many other Akpoguma's has been turned down in years past.
