Mikel still a key player -Keshi

Nigeria Super eagle coach Stephen Keshi has come out to rubbish reports that he and chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi are at loggerheads following his exclusion from the team to play Chad in the African nations cup qualifiers.

Keshi went on to state that the midfielder still remains an integral member of his team and that Mikel was only excluded because he is giving opportunities to "green horns".

Speaking with BBC sport Keshi said: "He's an integral member of this team who brings a lot to it. Right now we are only giving opportunities to some new players.”

Mikel played only 21 times for Chelsea this term and was traumatized with series of injuries all through the campaign.

But non the less, the defensive midfielder smiled home with two trophies, as Chelsea did the domestic double, winning the English premier league and the Capital One cup.
