Ex international Friday Ekpo has tasked the Nigeria Football Federation to look towards the direction of Super Eagles assistant coach as a possible replacement for Stephen Keshi as Eagles coach.
After a decent performance which saw the Home Based Super Eagles record a 2-0 win against Yemen and a 1-0 defeat against Cote d’Ivoire in its two international friendly matches in Abu Dhabi, Amokachi has been receiving rave review from different quarters of Nigerian football for the short time he used to assemble these players without the presence of out of contract Keshi.
However, Ekpo who had a short spell in the colours of the Super Eagles as a result of Austine Okocha’s emergence in the team, said that since Keshi’s future is still in doubt, Amokachi should be handed that golden opportunity to tutor the new generation of the Super Eagles.
” I think Amokachi deserves his place in that team and we should give him a chance.”
“If you saw the two games you can tell he’s really learnt a lot even from Keshi and he’s putting them to se, giving the chance I believe he’ll do well,” Ekpo said.
Goals from the duo of Mfon Udoh and Azubike Egwueke ensured the team overpowered Yemen while Cote d’Ivoire ‘s Salomon Kalou scored the solitary goal to beat Nigeria.
