According to the Africa soccer ruling body, Tejiri is
being punished for spitting on the first assistant referee during the CAF Confederation Cup away game against FCMK in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The CAF disciplinary committee said the punishment
meted out on Tejiri at the club level will be
communicated to FIFA in the event that the world
football body wants to effect the punishment on the
national team level also.
“12 months suspension decision will be communicated to FIFA who may extend it on the international level,”
CAF said in a statement containing other disciplinary
actions taken against erring players and clubs alike.
From the long list of offences and punishments, Malian club Onze Createurs were the worst hit as they were slammed with a $20,000 fine for throwing missiles, causing match stoppage and injuring a player when they played against Ivorian side Asec Mimmossas.
Police had to intervene and dispersed the crowd.
