Flying Eagles flying high in GLO-Super 4

Nigeria U20 team, the Flying Eagles, won their third straight game at the Super 4 in Abuja courtesy of a second-half winner by skipper Musa Muhammed.

The Flying Eagles thus stayed top of the six-team pre-season tournament with nine points from three matches.

Skipper Muhammed headed home the all-important goal in the 47th minute off a free kick after the Nigeria U20s struggled to find their rythm against Wolves, who placed third in the Nigeria Premier League last season and will represent Nigeria in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Warri Wolves showed tremendous improvement against the Flying Eagles as they controlled the game for the better part of the first half, but no goal to show for their impressive play with wingers Stanley Dimgba and Joseph Osadiaye in full sway.

The Flying Eagles had three shots at goal with two on target and Wolves had two shots with one on target.

In the eighth minute, Joseph Osadiaye was denied by Flying eagles goalkeeper Joshua Enhaholo.

In the 28th minute, Wolves shot stopper Okiemute Odah left his lines to clear a dangerous pass before Taiwo Awoniyi could pounce.
Suleiman Abdullahi goal-bound effort was then cleared off the goal line eight minutes later by a Wolves defender.

In the 42nd minute, a goal for Wolves was cancelled for off side after Roland Silas turned the ball into his net.

Joseph Eyimofe saved Wolves in the 57th minute after goalkeeper Odah was beaten to a ball by Awoniyi and two minutes later, Wasiu Jimoh failed to double the flying Eagles lead as he fired wide.
In the 61st minute, Michael Okoyoh's deflected shoot from the edge of the box was well gathered by Enaholo.

Odah denied Awoniyi when he parried his 66th minute effort back into his area. The rebound was tucked away but ruled out for off side.
Rampaging Awoniyi fired off target close to Wolves box in the 71st minute and Enaholo ensured he posted a clean sheet when he gathered a free kick on second attempt.

In the 80th minute, Odah was on hand to prevent Awoniyi from getting a goal as he makes safe off his effort and in the dying minutes Awoniyi saw his strike come off the post.

Wolves substitute Ezenwa Otorogu flicked an effort off target by whisker and Sikiru Adewale's shot went way off target in the 87th minute from a good position.
