Martins Does It Again, wins MLS goal of the Year
Obafemi Martins has scooped the goal of the year award in the United States Major League Soccer, MLS, same day he was announcing his retirement from international football.
We talked about how he narrowly lost the MVP Award to robbie Keane see here.
The Nigerian forward, who scooped more than half the votes, got the award for his Week 11 chipped effort from close to the touchline that he managed to loft over San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper, Jon Busch, and into the far corner.
Martins, who currently plays club football in the United States with Seattle Sounders, has been overlooked for the past 18 months; a development that could have contributed to his decision to quit national team football.
