Elderson Makes champions League Round of 16

After beating Zenith St. Petersburg 2 nil at the Stade Louis II in the final round of the 2014 Uefa Champions League, Monaco with 11 points qualified as group leaders for the knockout stages of the competition ahead of German side, Bayer Leverkusen who finished as runner up on 10 points.

The french giants are qualifying for the latter phase of the competition for the first time since 2004 and Nigerian, Elderson Echiejele was instrumental in As Monaco's success story.

The 26 years overcame an injury setback to be part of the match day squad but did not feature for the host.
He has played for the 2004 finalist just once in a 0-1 victory over Bayer leverkusen in the UCL.

Elderson couldnt hide his joy despite not featuring and was full of praise for his team-mates.

His words. "Good result at home, the team kept it compact. Well done boys, happy to be through to the second round of the competition."
