Former super eagles striker Jonathan Akpoborie gave an interview yesterday where he identified politics as the bane of our football, really you can't agree more, given the state of our football presently, we are always escaping the FIFA Hammer by whiskers, the court cases, player bonus sagas, it just goes on and on. Now Akpoborie identified the rank and file of the NFF as the beneficiary of all the hullabaloo and hence the reason why they continue in the power/politcs tussle. He insisted that a politics free football would definitely benefit Nigeria football and bring us what is obtainable in other developed footballing countries, "Politics is actually destroying Nigerian football, in Nigeria when we draw up a plan its always scuttled by politics.”
” If we want to enjoy the game like the Europeans we must separate football from politics. I don’t feel sorry for the Football Federation board members because they benefited from their political connections, so they must face the consequence." said the Ex super eagles striker.
