Oliseh who played 63 times for Nigeria is close to being appointed head coach of the super eagles following the controversial dismissal of Stephen Keshi on Saturday.
Oliseh won the African cup of nations with the super eagles in 1994 and also went on to win Olympic gold in 1996, he featured for Nigeria in both 1994 and 1998 world cup being fondly remembered for his screamer in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory against Spain in the France 98’ world cup group stage.
Oliseh also featured for top European sides like Ajax, Juventus and Borrusia Dortmund.
If the history of Nigeria’s football is ever to be written, the name Sunday Ogochukwu Oliseh deserves a notable mention, the 1994-1998 set the super eagles is ascribed to be a golden generation of the eagles and oliseh was a senior member of this set having been captain the super eagles.
The former Eagles skipper hasn’t been much into coaching lately, he was coach of Belgian lower league side Vervietois from 2008-2009, since then he has always been in our faces criticising and analysing as a supersport football pundit.
Worthy of mention is that Oliseh holds a Uefa Pro coaching licence a certification that few Nigerian coaches can boast of.
Oliseh confirmed from his Belgian base that there has been talks with the NFF over the vacant position but no agreement yet been reached.
