Sold via internet votes, now breaking records- Meet the new Nigerian Goal Wizard in England 3rd tier.

John Akinde has a peculiar place in the footbal lhistory books for being the first player sold by an internet vote of fans – he was a promising teenager at Ebbsfleet in 2008 when the online poll decided to let him move to Bristol City.

Born on 8 July, 1989 in Camberwell England, Akinde began his football career with Gravesend & Northfleet in 2006 as a teenager before moving on to play for the main team.

Unsuccessful stints with Wycombe Wanderers, Brentford, Bristol Rovers, Crawley, Dagenham & Redbridge Town and Portsmouth saw a once glowing career dim

After seven years and nine clubs, he has started setting records again and this time for much better reasons. He scored an impressive 18 goals in 42 appearances in the 2013/2014 football season for Conference Premier league side Alfreton Town.

Akinde joined Barnet on a two-year deal on 24 May 2014 and ever since he has never looked back.

His finish against Nuneaton that took Barnet back to the top of the Vanarama Conference was his 30th League goal of the season, equalling Gary Bull’s club record set in 1991
