Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Wilfred Agbonavbare, is in critical condition after been diagnose of cancer.
Agbonavbare, who was a part of the famous Super Eagles team of 1994 that won the Nations Cup in Tunisia, and took the world by storm at USA ‘94 and also starred for Rayo Vallecano, helping it win promotion into the La Liga twice, is suffering from cancer and is being treated in a hospital in Florida (United States).
A friend of the goalkeeper, also former footballer, wanted to appeal because Wilfred needs financial support to continue his fight against cancer.
He opened a Twitter account under the name @dinera00 (#AnimoWilfred) through which he’s making the appeal.
The account has followed many past Super Eagles players, including Stephen Keshi and JayJay Okocha and he has made direct appeals to them.
Spanish sports publication, Marca, picked up on the appeals and ran a story on the former Rayo Vallecano hero.
Wilfred began his career with the New Nigeria Bank and, after a period in the English Brentdord, ended up in the ranks of the Rayo Vallecano and played there for six seasons.
He also played for New Nigeria Bank, BCC Lions, Brentford in England , and Ecija also in Spain .
