Nigeria Hotshots across Europe

With the first half of the football season across Europe coming to a close, we select the most impressive and outstanding Nigerians so far.

1. German Bundesliga: Anthony Ujah(Fc Cologne)

The German bundesliga hasn't been a safe haven for Nigerians in time past, it took Ujah 20 matches and 875 minutes of game time to be able to gain recognition in the league.

After struggling with another German side Mainz, the 24 year old is in dream-land this term with his fine performances for his club  .

He was selected for the Bundesliga team of the week, a feat no Nigerian has ever achieved. His  goals has led club FC Cologne to 11th place on the log ranked above a club like Borussia Dortmund.

The player currently on six goals in 16 appearances is joint sixth top scorer in the bundesliga.

2. French Ligue 1: Vincent Enyeama(Lille LOSC)

Lille having played a game less and are ranked 13th on the Ligue 1 standings on 21 points with league leaders Marseille almost doubling their point tally. Nigeria skipper Vincent Enyeama is part of the reason Renerd Gerard's side are not in the relegation zone.

The Nigerian has made 25 appearances for the Europa league campaigners keeping eight clean sheets in the process. His goal keeping exploits also helped his club once again overcome Bordeaux in the French Cup where he not only saved a penalty but scored a spot kick to secure victory for the club.

Still in the running for African footballer of the year, the 32 year old is a huge favorite to land the prestigious accolade.

3. Spanish La-Liga: Ikechukwu Uche(Villareal CF)

Ikechukwu Uche has now scored over a century of goals in Spanish La Liga making him Nigerians best player in the history of the league. He is also one of Africa's top marks-men in Spanish football history, only behind Samuel Eto'o.

A super regular for Villareal, the 30 year old has struck five times in 18 appearances for the La Liga side this season.
His exploits has helped the yellow submarines to fifth place on the table and also booked a place in the Europa league round of 32.

No wonder the Spanish giants extended his contract by two years, meaning the former Granada man will remain at the stadium El Madrigal until the summer of 2017.

4. Dutch Eredivisie:

Bathlomew Ogbeche(SC Cambuur)

After disappointing spells at Cadiz, Xerez and Middlesbrough, Bathlomew Ogbeche made the switch to Eredivisie new comers Cambuur for the 2014/2015 season. His move was a gamble on the part of his employers considering his previous goal records and barren spells.

However, the Korea/Japan 2002 world cup star left his critics in shock as he has single handedly led the club to 6th place on the log three points adrift of 4th placed Pec Zwolle .

He is currently Nigeria's top scorer in Europe with 8 goals in 15 appearances meaning he averages a goal in every 2 games.

He is also Cambuur top scorer and joint seventh on the eredivisie goal ranking.

Abiola Dauda(Vitesse)

Another Nigerian painting the dutch eredivisie red with goals this term is 26 year old Vitesse attacker, Abiola Dauda.

Dauda presently is joint ninth on the dutch league goal scorers chat with six goals in 15 appearances and only 2 goals behind club top scorer, Marko Vejinovic.

In his first season in the Dutch top flight following his move from Serbian Superliga champions, Red Star Belgrade, the Nigerian is already considered a success story.

His club Vitesse currently are 10th on the league ranking with 22 points.

5. England: Victor Moses(Stoke city)

Deemed surplus to requirement at parent club, Chelsea, Victor Moses made a loan switch to English premier league side Stoke city after a disappointing spell at Liverpool.

The Nigerian didn't take long to adapt to his new environment producing match winning performances week in week out before his fine run of form was hampered by injury.

The potters were touted to already be on the move for a permanent deal for the former Wigan man who was at one point ranked 36th best player in the league above players like Yaya Toure, Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere.

He made a total of 12 appearances scoring once and assisting 5 times.

6. Russia Premier League: Ahmed Musa(CSKA Moscow)

The other Nigerian to have been nominated for the CAF Africa footballer of the year award Ahmes Musa, continued from where he stopped at the FIFA world cup in Brazil with fine string of performances for his club.

He shorn in the Uefa champions against top sides like Bayern Munich and Machester city playing all six of Cska Moscow champions league games.

No wonder the 22 year old has been on the radar of top English sides. He has scored 8 times in 23 games for the Russian champions who currently are 7 points behind league leaders, Zenith St. Petersburg.
