Mourinho praises Mikel

Jose Mourinho was full of praise for Nigeria midfielder john obi mikel today following his sides 2 nill win over hull City at the bridge.

Mourinho had to make do without Fabregas who have featured for virtually every premier league game for the blues this term.

Chelsea opened the scoring when Mikel dispossessed fellow Nigerian midfielder Omatsone Aluko, the resulting cross from Oscar found Hazard who nodded in.

Mourinho said after the game on Mikel: “John Mikel Obi also had a very positive performance. Once more a big player for us didn’t play – this time Fabregas – and the people who replaced him assumed responsibility.”

Agony in Victory: Emenike Fails To Score Again As Fenerbahce Win

Nigeria international striker, Emmanuel Emenike's travail continues as he failed to find the back of the net yet again in Fenerbahce 4-1 victory over Sivaspor in the Turkish league.

The 27 year old started in a two man attack for the yellow canaries alongside forward, Moussa Sow but it was the Senegalese hitman that took away the shine from from the former Spartak Moscow man as he scored a brace.

Apart from the ex Lille striker, dutch attacker Dirk Kuyt and Turkish centre back, Bekir Irtegun were amongst the goal scorers for the Turkish champion.

Emenike was subsequently replaced by Alper Potuk in the 67th minute after failing to score nor make any assist in the game.

Sivaspor on the hand had Macauley Chrisantus in action for seven minutes as he replaced Musa Sinan on the 83rd minute. Compatroit, John Utaka missed out completely due to a straight red card received in Sivaspor previous league game.

Emenike has so far picked up more yellow cards (3) than goals (2) in 12 appearances this season for his club showing how frustrating the season has been for him. His last goal for Fenerbahce was over a month ago away to Besiktas in the league.

The Supersand Eagles began their Copa Lagos defence on a high as they drenched their Ghanaian counterparts, the Black Sharks, 7-5 at the Eko Atlantic City on Friday.

Yobo Thinks the Dream team VI is the future

Ex super eagles skipper Joseph Yobo has described the present crop of the national under 23 side as the future super eagles.

Yobo was at  the FIFA goal project yesterday to see the team train and urged the players to listen to their coaches and see themselves as the next super eagles.

I’m like one of you guys, it was nice coming to watch you play, though this is a training, the coach is like a brother and a good friend, when he saw me and he asked me to come, I just can’t say no. I started just like you, if not even lower, though this is the under-23″

“I just want to encourage you, am happy with what I’m seeing, there is still room for improvement, just believe in your self, believe in your coach, believe in your team mate, it’s not a do or die affair, it has to be team work, even if there is competition amongst you, you have to keep it friendly, but most importantly you have to believe in God”

He also had something to say on coach Siasia stating he's a kind of coach that loves believe in players, "He's a kind of coach that believes in his boys, but first you have to believe in yourself " Yobo told the players.

President Pinnick thinks we play "Blind Football"...

Before you ask yourself what the heck he's saying, I suggest you hear him out.

Now the president of 9ja's football governing body Amaju Pinnick in an interview with newsmen described the football played in the country as blind.

The NFF boss said the board is looking to train some 17 coaches on how to read games from the bench.
Training is likely to be done in England, and should commence in January.

Quoting him..

"We want to improve our technicality especially from the bench. In January we want to send 17 individuals, Coaches and ex-international to England to study back-room analysis or match-reading.”
” We don’t have a match-reader in this country and it affects our game. When we play football we do so blindly. A match-reader does the analysis of the team, he tells your you the pace, fitness level and style of play of any particular player.”
” The match reader equally chronicles the game and we want to build at least 50 of them in Nigeria,”

At least 10 grade A friendlies planned for Eagles by NFF..

Putting the AFCON 2015 right behind us?? We've been keeping tabs on the NFF and their plans for the super eagles, and yea there was some activity.

The NFF general secretary Barrister Musa Amadu while speaking to journalists in the glass house assured Nigerians that the team will execute nothing less than 10 grade A friendly games. Stating that the Federation will ensure that the Super Eagles are engaged in all FIFA windows next year.

He declined to comment on the NFF plans for the technical crew but said plans would be made to bring our football back to the glory days.

“Next year there is going to be FIFA windows, at least about 10 of them. We intend to fill those windows with quality friendly matches. The coaching crew will use the matches to look at players that will bring back the lost glory of Nigerian football".

Commenting on the dream team, Amadu said

"Quality friendly proposed by the chief coach, Siasia, and I want to make it clear that as soon as we receive that request, we will put the machinery in motion to organize matches for him. Don’t also forget that the U-23 team is the second most important national team after the Super Eagles.”
“We have qualifiers for the All African Games and the Olympic Games, we will do everything possible to ensure that we give support to these teams, including the Super Falcons. Certainly"

Siasia laments time schedule of Dream team VI

Head coach of the national un-23 side Samson yebue Siasia aka Sia-one has bemoaned the time constraints facing his team.

Presently we know that seven foreign based players have graced the side, but the gaffer still believes his side is behind schedule regarding preparations for the forthcoming Olympic qualifiers

” We’re a little behind schedule, the foreign pros just came in. We’ve cancelled a game in bauchi, but we’ll make the best of that situation and spend time working with them and continue to play the local teams.”
” Its the off-season, so we’re looking to get some very good games with League clubs" Siasia told footballlive.

NO Pannick For Pinnick As FIFA Endorses NFF Board

Good morning football lovers..and we start off with some good news.

FIFA have formally endorsed the Nigeria Football Federation board which was elected during a congress in the Delta State on September 30.

Football’s governing body was asked to intervene when it was established that there were differing views on what transpired at the meeting where Amaju Pinnick was elected to serve as the NFF’s president.

During an Appeals Committee hearing, chaired by Okey Ajunwa, a minority group at the federation had disputed the legitimacy of the current board. The NFF subsequently decided to forward both versions of reports to FIFA for their perusal.

"We acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 8 December 2014 including details of the ruling of the Nigeria Football Federation Appeals Committee," FIFA General Secretary Jerome Valcke said in response.

"We note the majority decision of the Electoral Appeals Committee to uphold in their entirety the results of the Elective Congress held in Warri on 30 September 2014.

"We are therefore pleased to be able to start working with the office bearers headed by the NFF President, Amaju pinnick. We will contact you in the coming days to organise an introductory meeting between Mr Pinnick and FIFA president in Zurich."

Musa slump with CSkA Moscow

African footballer of the year nominee, Ahmed Musa was on display for 90 minutes but could do little to save his side from a humilating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.

Goals from Thomas Muller, Sebastian Rode and Mario Goetze ensured the Bavarians ended Ahmed Musa and Moscow's hopes of progressing in the competition.

Manchester city pulled off a shocking 2-0 away victory over Roma to qualify as group runners up. The result means CSKA Moscow will not even feature in the Uefa Europa league which is the second tier of Europe elite club competition.

The Nigerian featured in all CSKA's six group games and scored once in the process.

SPECIAL TALENT: Man city apply for work permit for Iheanacho

English Premier League champions, Manchester City have applied for a work permit for Nigeria youngster Kelechi Iheanacho.
Iheanacho has yet to be capped at full international level by Nigeria but he has been capped at the U-17 and U-20 levels and City are most likely to use the special talent argument to get the Home office to grant Iheanacho the right to ply his trade in the UK.

It was the same argument that helped Chelsea to give Mikel Obi a contract in 2006 even when by then he was not an established Nigeria international.
“City have applied for a work permit for Kelechi this week,” one of the player’s representatives informed
“We believe he will be granted the chance to play in England.”
Iheanacho was the MVP of last year’s FIFA U17 World Cup, which Nigeria won in fine style with the forward finishing also as the second leading scorer of the tournament.

Last week, he was called up by Nigeria U23 team with coach Samson Siasia admitting he is a big fan of the U-17 World Cup winner.
He equally shone during City’s pre-season training tour of the United States of America, scoring a couple of goals with class and composure.
Iheanacho turned 18 recently and has been training with Major League Soccer (MLS) side Colombus Crew.

Earlier this year, City said they may loan out the starlet when he is 18 and can sign a pro deal, but recent reports suggest they may keep him at the Éttihad Stadium.

It was the Nigerian 55th UEFA champions league appearance for Chelsea and has now scored five goals in all competitions since arriving Stamford bridge in 2006.

Spurs give Adebayor leave to resolve family issues

"They have convinced him his sister and mother put juju curses on him. My mother is very sad. Every day she is crying. I just talked to her on the phone and she was crying again.
"My family is Christian but it is not unusual to visit Muslim spiritual healers. He is seeing bad alfas and they are manipulating him." he told daily mirror.

Ideye Fires Warning Signal: Scores Twice in Training Match

Super Eagles forward, Brown Ideye, scored a brace in West Brom's friendly with Northampton Town FC played behind closed doors on Tuesday afternoon.
The former Bayelsa United star, Ideye scored a goal in each half as the Baggies thumped League Two side,Northampton Town FC 5-2 in the practice game. Ideye and Kemar Roofe each got a brace while Adil Nabi's goal made it five for the Baggies.

Ideye, who showed off his customized gold plated edition of the iPhone 6 with his name Ideye Brown written on it on Instagram a couple of days back, hasn't scored goals aplenty since his celebrated club record move to West Bromwich Albion, but goals in such practice games might put him in his sweet spot in real match situations.

In the 16th minute, Brown Ideye made a fantastic solo run to double West Brom's lead, while his second came in the second half, the 66th minute precisely, Ideye making a cool finish after being played in on goal by Varela to make scores at 4-2.

Brown Ideye made a £10m move to Premier League side, West Bromwich Albion on Friday, July 18, 2014 and has so far scored just one goal.

On Monday the Confederation of Africa Football released a list of 30 referees to officiate at the AFCON 2015 to be held in Equatorial Guinea and his name was included in the list.

Two Nigerians on Arsenal's bench today.

Chuba Akpom and Alex Iwobi are two Nigerians doing great things for Arsenal football club of England.

There performances have been repaid by a place in the AFC squad for today's UEFA champions league game against Galatasaray of Turkey.

Chuba as we can tell has been named in the match day squad of the UCL for his team, but it's a first for Alex who have been invited to the dream team vi by coach Sampson Siasia.

Both players have represented England at junior levels, and we hear the NFF Will be working hard to get both players to represent their fatherland by December.

Another Nigerian you might know at Arsenal is Semi Ajayi, but he's not listed in Arsenal's UCL first team for the champions league group stage.

Iheanacho, Nwakali gets £200M Academy Training Facility at Man city

Nigerian youngsters Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidi Nwakali will now train at the new, arguably the most sophisticated and high-tech Manchester city training ground.

City went through 19 different designs versions before settling on the final one and looked at more than 70 different sporting facilities in  Europe, USA and Australia for inspiration.

There are total of 16 outdoor pitches, including the main academy stadium pitch, a protected first team pitch for setpiece work and 14 other playing surfaces, plus two half-pitches for goalkeeper training.

Amongst other features, there are 32 en-suite bedrooms for the players and coaching staff, based on four-star hotels, all based on modern hotel designs and tailored to suit the needs of the players, including specifically-made beds and blackout blinds.

City's players used to stay in Manchester's Hilton Hotel before home games, but Zabaleta said staying in the purpose-built residential complex at the training ground was far better for the squad.

“It's better than a hotel because it's more private here,” said Zabaleta. “We don't see people around and it's more comfortable for the team.

“Then there's the facilities – the dressing-room, the spa, even the restaurant and canteen are fantastic. Everything you can imagine is in there.

“As a player coming in for training every day, it's much better here than in my house! I don't care if I spend eight or nine hours here.

“I remember when they were talking about City building a new training ground, but I didn't expect it to be this big.

Nigerians will be hoping City's latest facilities will aid the career of the youngsters which also means success in the national set up in the near future.

Isaac Success Becomes Youngest Goal Scorer in Spanish Laliga History

Nigerian striker Success Isaac made history on Sunday when he scored in the 89th minute of the Spain’s Primera División game between Granada and Valencia.

The former Golden Eaglets star did not start the game but was drafted in as a 69th-minute substitute for Jhon Córdoba.

He finally made his contribution less than 60 seconds from time in fortuitous fashion.

Valencia failed to deal with a throw in and the ball rebounded off Granada’s Dimitri Foulquier who was trying to force his way through on goal.

The ricochet fell to the unmarked Isaac who had the simple task of planting an emphatic finish into an unguarded Valencia net from two yards.

It was Isaac’s first league goal for Granada as he continues his professional football education.

That strike at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes on match day 14 was symbolic as Isaac now becomes the youngest player to have scored in the Primera División this season.

He achieved the feat at the age of 19 years, 11 months, one day.

The youngster will be looking to build on that feat and continue his progress under the Granada coach, Joaquín Caparrós, a man known for giving precocious talent ample room to develop.

Isaac has already made 12 league appearances for Granada this term.

Ike Uche Masterminds David Moyes's Downfall

Nigeria international, Ike Uche was at the heart of things as Villareal inflicted a first defeat on David Moyes on his return to management in Spain. Villareal thumped visitors Real Sociedad 4-0 in a Spanish La liga game played on sunday.

On the back of four successive games without losing nor conceding, David Moyes's troops visited the El Madrigal with high hopes and a revenge mission in mind having been eliminated by same club from the 2005 champions league group phase during his spell at Everton.

Although the 30 year old couldnt add to his five goals this term, he was instrumental in dis-stabilising the visitors defence in the first half and also creating for others.

The first of the goals was an own goal by Sociedad's keeper Enaut Zubikarai in the 64th minute.
